LAYYAH: A woman was brutally assaulted by her husband in Kot Sultan on Saturday.

The Kot Sultan police lodged a criminal case against Khalil Ahmed on the complaint of his wife Fauzia Sharif.

The couple has a son and a daughter in their 14 years of marriage.

Dr Nausheen, of the Kot Sultan Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, who examined Fauzia told Dawn the bone over the left eye of Fauzia was exposed and she had blurred vision and the final report would be given by the ophthalmologist.

The X-Ray showed that ring finger of left hand has a fracture; the second X-Ray shows that Fauzia`s three ribs suffered fractures.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Muzammil Hussain maintained that new sections 337 A2 and 337 S5 have been added to the first information report. Fauzia told Dawn that on her hue and cry, neighbours rescued her and brought her to the THQ hospital `otherwise my husband would have killed me`.

The police said Khalil was at large, but he would be apprehended soon. Lawyer Nuzhat Yasmin said the wife beater should be handed down an exemplary punishment. Correspondent
