VEHARI: The main suspects of a woman torture case Assistant SubInspector Younas, Tahir and landlord Ayad Daultana (complainant of a theft case against Zahoor Bibi are at large. The footage of torture of Zahoor Bibi went viral online prompting action from the higher authorities against the police.

On Sept 4, the Luddan police with two sons and an employee of Ayaz Daultana tortured Zahoor Bibi at the dera of Daultana for stealing 160 tola gold ornaments from the house of Daultana.

After the incident, the police registered a case against 13 people eight police officials, Daultana and two sons and an employee.

According to sources,police officials DSP Rao Tariq, Azeem and Shaukat were declared innocent in the inquiry report. Other police officials Arif Shah, Tariq, Amjad Khan and Muzamal were sent to jail on 14 days judicial remand.

Lady constable Shakila was, however, released on ball.

Two sons of the landlord Zarwan and Haroon and their employee Fiaz were handed over to police on five-day physical remand.

Inve s tigation Superintendent of Police Kausar Parveen said the inquiry was ongoing and would be released soon.

Torture victim Zahoor Bibi was under treatment at the Vehari District Headquarters Hospital.

Medical Superintendent Dr Fazal said the patient`s condition was stable.
