Rude ASI sent to jail on judicial remand
LAHORE: A judicial magistrate on Friday sent an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) to jail on judicial remand in a case of misbehaving an elderly woman and threatening her with dire consequences at the Central Police Office.
Old Anarkali police had arrested ASI Asif Ali after a video of his act went viral on social media and the police high-ups took notice of the incident.
The investigating officer told the magistrate that custody of the policeman was not required as investigation had been completed. At this the magistrate sent the policeman to jail on judicial remand and directed the IO to submit challan of the case within the stipulated time.
The woman namely Kundan Mai, 85, had travelled to Lahore from Muzaffargarh to lodge a complaint with the IGP at an open court.
The ASI stopped her at the security point and treated her rudely when she requested for an early access to the IGP as she was unable to stay long due to poor health and humid weather.
The video showed that the ASI turned abusive when the woman sat in a chair meant for the staff.
IGP retired Capt Arif Nawaz had taken notice of the incident and ordered arrest of the police official.
