Woman ‘shot dead by husband’ – March 09, 2017
LAHORE: A woman was shot dead allegedly by her husband in Islampura on Wednesday.
Police claimed that Saira, 26, was found dead at her house at Khokhar Stop near Bund Road.
Quoting neighbours, police said Saira and her husband Raheel Baig had a heated argument that was followed by gun shots. Later, Baig fled from the scene, they added.
Police also quoted neighbours as saying that the couple had developed differences and often exchanged harsh words. Police shifted the body to morgue for autopsy, collected forensic evidences and recorded statements of witnesses.
Police said that Saira, born a Christian, had got married to Baig three years ago after converting to Islam.
ACCIDENTS: Two motorcyclists, including a policeman, died in accidents in different areas of the city.
According to Rescue 1122, constable Naveed was travelling on his motorcycle when a speeding car hit him near Factory Area police station. The constable lost his balance and smashed into the footpath and died. He was appointed in the Crimes Investigation Agency Model Town police station.
The driver of the car fled from the scene leaving the vehicle behind. Police shifted the body to morgue and registered a case against the driver.
In another accident, Ashraf was on his way on a motorcycle when a speeding pick-up van hit him in Township.
He suffered critical injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
Police shifted the body to morgue and later handed it over to his family after completing legal formalities.
