LAHORE: Two unidentified people kidnapped a minor boy from a street in the Ghaziabad area on Monday, the police said here on Wednesday.

The footage of the incident of abduction of four-year-old boy Umair in the broad daylight went viral online and sent an alarm for the police as well as the citizens.

The CCTV footage showed kidnappers came on a motorcycle and stopped by Umair and his youngbrother who were playing in the street.

One of them got down the motorcycle, talked to both children and later took away Umain on the motorcycle. The parents came to know about the incident when Umair did not return home.

Umair`s mother told the media that he had gone to purchase some edibles from a local shop along with his young brother.

Lahore Operations SSP Ismail Kharrak told Dawn the incident occurred on Sept 9 when the policesecurity was engaged for Muharram duties. He said the suspects were traced in the Shahdara area where they went underground along with the abducted baby.

`The CCTV cameras of the Safe City Authority installed on various parts of the city traced the location of the criminals in Shadara,` the SSP said, adding that the police teams were working aggressively using all available resources. Staff Reporter
