LAHORE: A man allegedly killed a woman and her young daughter in the presence of several neighbours at Badami Bagh here on Tuesday.

A mobile phone footage which went viral showed the incident of broad daylight murder of women at Hanif Park.

Suspect Shahbaz was seen in the street with a pistol and killing mercilessly both of them. The footage showed he first fired at the elderly woman who fell in the street and as the young lady came to rescue her mother, the suspect also shot at her.

He warned the neighbours not to come close to the injured women. The women called people for help but no one responded to their cries, shows the footage made by one of the locals.

The suspect again fired shots at the women, ensuring their on-the-spot death, according to the footage.

As the attacker disappeared from the scene, the locals rushed the women to hospital where doctors pronounced them dead. They were later identified as Razia Bibi and her daughter Sonia.

Quoting initial inquiries, a police official said Shahbaz wanted to marry Sonia and he was told that her mother was not happy due to his alleged bad character.

The official said on the day of the incident Shahbaz visited the area, dragged the elderly woman in the street and shot her dead along with her daughter.

The police official said the bodies were shifted to the city morgue for autopsy.
