RAWALPINDI: A man attempted suicide by jumping from the rooftop of his house after killing his elder sister apparently in the name of honour on Siham Road in Misrial on Monday night, police said.

Initial police report suggested that the man had a verbal fight with his sister during which he allegedly slashed her throat and later attempted suicide by jumping from the rooftop of his house.

Both of them were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital where the woman was pronounced dead while the condition of the man was stated to be critical.

Police said parents of the victims had been in Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.

The police said the deceased woman was serving in a private bank while the man was a labourer.

Naseerabad SHO told Dawn that motive behind the murder was not known because the murder suspect was lying unconscious as he is the only eyewitness of the incident.

He said the suspect had cut her sister’s throat and then attempted suicide.

He said the real circumstances in which the woman was murdered could be known only after the man regains his consciousness.—Staff Reporter
