Kidnapped girl found dead

KASUR: Villagers continued their protest for the second day on Friday at police`s f ailure to arrest the murderers of a teenage girl at village Bhair Sodiwal, in the limits of Allahabad police station.

The police said Amna, 18, was kidnapped on Tuesday from her house at gunpoint where five suspects, two of them nominated and residents of the same village, stormed into the house of Muhammad Akram, held the family hostage and took away Amna.

On Thursday, the Allahabad police found a female body in the Noorpur canal, which was later identified as Amna.

The news of murder sparked unrest among vilagers who gathered on Deepalpur Road near their village and threw traffic out of gear.

According to Muhammad Asif, paternal uncle of the deceased girl, the police did not listen to the family till they blocked the road. He also said that the suspects were influential people and for that reason, the police did not take any action. The police handed over the body to the bereaved family afterlegal formalities.

To satisfy the charged protesting villagers, the police raided the house of the suspects and took buf f aloes into custody while whole f amily has gone into hiding.

On the assurance of local administration that justice would be done, the protesters dispersed.
