Teacher suspended for cutting girls` hair

CHINIOT: A teacher was suspended from job on Monday for cutting the hair of girl students for not memorising lesson in Ahmedabad, 15 kilometres from here.
The Chiniot Saddar school also registered a first information report (FIR) against two teachers for the offence. Asifa Bibi and Zahida Sarwar, teachers at the Government Girls` High School, Ahmadabad, cut the hair of some six students of grade five for not memorising the lesson assigned to them as homework. According to the FIR registered with Sadar police on the report of Sanaullah, his niece Samreen Yousaf went to school where teachersAsifa and Zahida confined her and five other students in a classroom. They cut the hair of Samreen, Mehreen Nasir, Arooj Fatima, Rimsha Parveen, Aleesha Yousaf and Sania Akbar. He, with other parents, rushed to school where got the girls rescued. Deputy Commissioner Aman Anwer Kedawi has ordered inquiry into the matter and directed the chief executive officereducation (CEOeducation) to suspend the teachers immediately. Deputy District Education Officer Zahida Azeem has been appointed inquiry officer while CEO-education Mian Ismaeel has also issued a warning to school heads to refrain from any type of corporal punishment of students in public and private schools. |
