Autopsy fails to establish cause of girl`s death
ISLAMABAD: An autopsy on the body of the 10-year-old girl found dead in the capital last week failed to establish the cause of her death.
The decomposed body was found in Tamma village on May 20 five days after the girl went missing from outside her house. It is believed that the girl was murdered after being subjected to sexual assault and severe torture.
The 10-year-old disappeared on May 15 and the police registered a case on the charge of kidnapping on May 19.
Sources told Dawn that the autopsy conducted at Polyclinic failed to establish the cause of death as the body had decomposed.
An official in the hospital said the body was decomposed so tracing marks of injuries or strangulation was impossible.
A police officer close to the investigation said samples for DNA test and chemical examination had been sent to laboratories and their results were awaited. As the autopsy has no findings, theinvestigators will wait for the DNA and chemical examiner`s reports to establish the cause of death, he added.-Staff Reporter
